B Sides Metal is a jewelry business created by Brooke Sides. My jewelry takes its inspiration from nature and pattern. I enjoy creating simple, stylized and unique wearable jewelry and accessories. My work combines traditional metalsmithing techniques with a range of non-traditional materials. I explore wearable art that incorporates other media "bsides metal", such as vintage beads, fabric, wood, felt, lace, found objects, enamel and resin.
All of my designs are created in my home studio. Each piece is built as a unique creation from concept to completed execution. B Sides Metal work consists of one-of-a-kind creations, custom pieces and a small series of limited edition works.
I have been passionate about making jewelry since 2002 when I started Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design classes at Appalachian State University after a life long love of accessories and raiding my mother's jewelry collection. While earning my Bachelors of Science in Art Education I continued to study jewelry making. Every time I stepped in the jewelry studio and fired a torch I fell in love all over again. I knew that making jewelry was my passion.
Later, I was thrilled to attend Penland School of Crafts where I studied pewtersmithing and small sculpture. It was after that experience that I started planning a business in metalwork and jewelry design.
In 2006 my husband and I built my first studio in North Carolina. I have been designing my own creations ever since.
